To draw attention to what has been called one of America’s dirtiest little secrets, the NEST Foundation recently completed the feature-length documentary film PLAYGROUND. Produced by George Clooney, Steven Soderbergh, Abigail Disney, Lauren & Gayle Embrey and David de Rothschild, with animation by Japanese artist and icon Yoshimoto Nara, PLAYGROUND has already had a profound impact— including the prompting of U.S. Senators to sponsor legislation designed to decriminalize child victims and to train law enforcement.
To capitalize on the growing awareness of the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and fully utilize the power of the film PLAYGROUND, the NEST Foundation is launching the 13 Campaign to end CSEC. NEST will host PLAYGROUND screenings in 13 cities over two years; organize trainings of law enforcement agents, social and public health workers; address the demand by holding workshops for men; educate at-risk youth; and raise funds for local “nests,” or safe homes for victims.
Steps to end CSEC:
NEST will use PLAYGROUND screenings to educate teenagers, parents, teachers, law enforcement and the larger community about CSEC.
NEST will couple PLAYGROUND screenings with workshops for teens, parents and teachers.
NEST will raise funds to support long-term shelters for children.
NEST will partner with legislators to help pass state and federal laws designed to support child victims and prosecute perpetrators of CSEC.
To ensure the spark we’ve ignited becomes the fire necessary to eradicate CSEC, we need your support.
