Identify, intervene, and support youth at risk of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking
This interactive training gives teams the skills needed to identify, intervene, and support youth at risk of or experiencing commercial sexual exploitation (CSEC). Participants will gain a deeper understanding of what CSEC looks like today, from trafficking to survival sex and grooming dynamics. The session explores how social and systemic factors impact risk and covers the latest data and emerging trends in exploitation and trafficking. Attendees will learn how to spot red flags in both clinical and everyday settings through discussion and a screening of the film PLAYGROUND and Jessica's Story. The training provides trauma-informed response protocols from disclosure to mandated reporting, strategies for creating safer digital and real-world environments for youth, and guidance on navigating state and federal CSEC laws. Participants will also explore the roles and responsibilities of Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) and Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) in CSEC cases.
