LESSON

Fifteen

Communication and Conflict Resolution

60 min

This lesson is currently under review with Nest Educational Advisors. Please check back later for updates.

In this lesson, students will reflect on their personal boundaries and learn about different communication styles before practicing de-escalation techniques through an interactive board game. Students will explore physical, emotional, and time boundaries and discuss how assertive communication can be used to express these boundaries. They will then apply the seven de-escalation strategies by responding to real-life scenarios in the game. These scenarios cover boundary violations and common middle school conflicts with friends, family, and peers. Through role-playing, students will strengthen their ability to manage conflicts calmly, promoting emotional regulation, healthy relationships, and non-violent problem-solving.
