This lesson serves as the introduction to the You Belong Here curriculum and its goals. In this lesson, students explore how their choices and experiences shape their identities. The lesson begins with an interactive activity where students respond to a series of statements, demonstrating how personal values, experiences, and influences affect decision-making. A group discussion follows, where students learn that their choices are part of what shapes their individual identities. Through a symbolic flower-building activity, students develop self-awareness and appreciation for diversity within their classroom.
